Located in Asheville, NC at an altitude of 2370 ft. and at latitude/ longitude of 35.57°N 82.57°W, our facility has the perfect growing environment for fall cool crops.

  • Bachelor Degree in Horticulture from Stephen F. Austin University in Texas
  • 15 years as plug grower for major plug suppliers in locations such as the "Mile High City” to the low country of South Carolinao Paul’s current position is Young Plant Facility Manager

Young Plant Division - Miami, FL

 

Located in Miami, Florida, this location offers the best growing environment possible for growing spring plugs.  The high light levels encourage faster finish for northern growers.  This facility continues to grow with the recently completed expansion of 2 acres bringing the plug facility to a total of 6 acres in Miami.  The new facility has the added benefits of underbench heating to encourage faster root development for those crops that are typically very long.

Our Miami Growing Team

 

Andrew Britten has been on the Costa Farms’ team since 2001 and his credentials include:
  • 13 years experience in plug and propagation
  • Manages all off-shore stock production in the Dominican Republic
  • Done extensive research in use of pre-emergence growth regulators in plug production, this practice is utilized in more than 80%of all current plug production
  • Young Grower of the Year recipient – 2005
  • Finalist GG Head Grower of the Year – 2010

Jorge Bernal has been on the Costa Farms’ team since 2000 and his credentials include:
  • Started with company as a chemical applicator and quickly moved up through the ranks to assistant grower
  • Assisted Andrew in startup of plug range in 2003
  • Assumed the role of lead grower for plug& propagation in 2006
  • Today manages all day to day growing decisions as well as manages plug & propagation team
